Review of NEMO Moki Tents
NEMO has developed an impressive reputation for a small
outdoor equipment company, as it is obvious that the people who work there
take pride in the excellence and technological superiority of their designs,
as well as the quality of their tent craftsmanship.
NEMO certainly aims to make each tent more than worth the hefty price
you pay for it, and this is clear from the examination of its four-season
powerhouse, the NEMO Moki.
Praised by one happy user as the 800-pound gorilla of the tent world, the
Moki is a true four-season tent, as formidable and comfortable in warm
summer weather as it is in the dead of winter.
It comfortably fits three large men with plenty of room left over for
gear, and even includes the option of an additional vestibule for extra
equipment. The Moki represents
the zenith of tent flexibility, with about half of the tent convertible to a
mesh wall if you require ventilation, or to store insulation in
blizzard-level conditions. In
extremely harsh climates, two or more Moki tents can actually be linked
together to make a veritable base camp of sturdiness and safety from the
frigid temperatures and freezing winds outside.
This places an even greater incentive on all the members of your
mountain conquering group to purchase Moki tents, which are fantastic on
their own, and just as amazing in concert.
Individually, each Moki tent is a wonder of design,
strung tightly together and assembled for maximum durability – this is
definitely not a tent that will flap about in the wind.
The care taken to build a brilliant product is evident from a mere
visual inspection of the tent, with not a seam out of place, and nothing
looking cheap or rushed. The
ceiling is high, and the walls are steep, giving you plenty of space to
maneuver inside. There is a roof
window, as well, along with mesh inner walls for when you remove the outer
coverings to increase air circulation.
The fabric of the tent itself is strong and heavily reinforced, sewn
about very tightly. As a result,
though, you may need to complete the waterproofing yourself by applying
sealant in the seam areas. The
Moki comes with sealant and instructions, though, so you won’t have to take
more than a few minutes priming your tent for torrential rains.
The stakes that come with the Moki to secure it to the ground are
extremely tough, with the one caveat being that they are rather difficult to
remove when pounded into frozen ground.
The Moki is colored in bright orange, to increase the chances of the
camp being spotted in the event that an expedition using it is stranded
somewhere.
The Moki is indeed an amazing piece of work, proof positive that NEMO does not scrimp on anything when it comes to its tent designs. If you’ve got the money to spend on this luxury, it will pay itself back to you with every use, and you’ll get plenty out of this all-season tent. You can buy it online here.
